Why are we so excited for the first day of the New Year, but never the first day of the new week?

Why not “New Week resolutions”?

 

Aspiration is easy, action is harder.

When dreams go from macro possibilities to micro responsibilities, we realize the amount of work necessary and it becomes overwhelming.

Remember though, a new year consists of 52 new weeks.

Each of those 52 weeks is made up of 7 days, each with 24 hours.

Those hours can be broken into minutes and seconds.

This is where the magic happens.

It’s in the minutes and seconds that you say “yes” or “no” to a thought, belief, or action that create the trajectory for your days, weeks, and years.

 

Changing a habit is hard, but it ultimately comes down to a “yes” or “no” decision that is made in the moment.

The quality of your seconds determines the quality of your years.

“Yes I will look at my phone while my child is talking to me”

“No, I won’t respond to gossip”

“No, I’m not going to continue because this is challenging”

“Yes I will tell my partner I love you”

“Yes I will stand up and go for a walk”.

These split second decisions parlay into further decisions made in the moment.

When they’re in line with what you really want from your day, week, year, and life, they build a momentum of energy in the right direction.

When they’re not, they don’t.

As you begin your week, think about the opportunities you have in the moment, in mere seconds, to say “yes” or “no” in order to intentionally align your energy in the direction you want to go .
