But…Cut the "But"

Brett Klika

But…

We’d all benefit from a “but” reduction in our lives.

“I’d pursue something important, but…”

The list could go on.

It’s a fact that you can’t do everything.

All too often, though, “but” becomes the barrier to doing the one thing that truly matters.

It’s the excuse that separates what you believe in from what you actually do.

A quick and easy “but…” is like a pill we take that temporarily validates inaction.

BUT…

The “buts” in life are energy dams, built from fear and self-protective stories we tell ourselves.

They block our best energy and intentions, keeping them stagnant.

We all have these “but” stories.

They start with a grain of truth but evolve into an ego-protecting shield that stands between where we are and where we want to go.

Over time, we believe these stories to our core.

The result?

They stand squarely between where we are and where we want to go.

Where do these stories show up in your life?

If you’re not sure where they show up, just look for your most frequented “buts.”

Remember, it’s data, not an indictment.

Ask yourself:

Do these “but” stories make it easier or harder to get what I want out of life?

Honestly assessing your stories requires humility.

Once you identify this “but” story, rewrite the narrative.

1️⃣ Acknowledge the truth behind the story.

2️⃣ Reconnect to what matters.

3️⃣ Commit to a new path.

Breaking free from “but” stories takes courage.

It requires humility to confront the shield you’ve built to protect yourself from failure or discomfort.

Open the dam.

A “but” reduction can change your life. 🚀
